Laura Stewart Schmidt is a lifelong avid reader and writer. Her favorite books have always been mysteries, beginning with the Trixie Belden and Judy Bolton series for girls. Her inspirations are Joan Lowery Nixon, Caroline B. Cooney, Phyllis Whitney and Sue Grafton.

Laura is a graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy Administration. She spent several years working as a community education coordinator, starting reading clubs for middle-school students and encouraging parents to read to their preschoolers. She also worked for several years at an agency that provides support for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.

She lives near St. Louis, Missouri with her husband and dogs.
